In this issue of Caraga Today, we feature NEDA Caraga’s ISO 9001:2015 certification after passing the Stage 2 Audit on October 22, 2021. This feat is a validation of NEDA Caraga’s pursuit to improve its services to internal and external clients especially in undertaking its role as the technical and secretariat support to the Caraga Regional Development Council (RDC).

The Caraga RDC celebrated the RDC Week during the 107th Full Council Meeting on September 28, 2021 featuring video messages from Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Karl Kendrick Chua and former Caraga RDC Chairperson, Sol Matugas. During the same meeting posthumous recognition was also conferred to Engr. Epimaco Galero, Jr. for his unwavering dedication to the Caraga RDC as Co-Chairperson from 2019 to 2021 and as private sector representative from 1998 to 2021.

The Regional Gender and Development Committee launched the 2021 Search for Caraga’s Gender-Responsive Government Agencies following the approval of the Caraga RDC. The Search is aimed at recognizing government agencies who uphold women’s rights and implement gender-responsive programs in the Region. The winner will be awarded in August 2022, coinciding with the 13th Anniversary of the Magna Carta for Women.

On the other hand, the Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-Asa Program dispatched beneficiaries for Agusan del Sur and Dinagat Islands. They shall be assisted by various government agencies and the recipient local government units for their smooth resettlement in their respective areas.

On COVID-19 vaccination, the Caraga Regional Task Force for COVID-19 One Caraga Shield discussed strategies to increase the Regions’s vaccination  throughput for the remaining months of 2021 and created a Technical Working Group to prepare an action plan.

This quarter, we celebrated the Indigenous Peoples Month, National Statistics Month, and the Economic and Financial Literacy Week. The Indigenous Peoples Month also celebrated the 24th year of the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act, while the National Statistics Month is on its 32nd year of celebration. On the other hand, the Economic and Financial Literacy Week celebration highlights AmBisyon Natin 2040 and focuses in how to make Filipinos more financially literate in the new normal.
