Butuan City Planning Officer III Engr. Levita C. Grana presented the alignment and incorporation of the NEDA-funded project, the Master Plan for the Sustainable Urban Infrastructure Development (MPSUID), in Butuan City during the 3rd Quarter Caraga Regional Development Council – Infrastructure Development Committee (RDC-IDC) held on 21 September 2021.

The Master Plan aims to improve Butuan City’s competitiveness, disaster resiliency, and urban conditions of its growth areas by formulating a long-term overall development framework. Along with the Master Plan are the five Pre-Feasibility Studies (pre-FS) for Bood Promontory Heritage Park, Business IT Park, Regional Government Center, Solid Waste Management System, and Urban Traffic Management System. These five projects are now captured in the City Government’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan and Comprehensive Development Plan.

The City has undertaken several steps to fully implement the master plan such as site planning and processing for the identified five projects with pre-FS. The Master Plan has also prioritized 24 infrastructure programs and projects that the City Government has started implementing, in partnership with regional line agencies. Mr. Vicente C. Lagnada, Jr., the OIC-City Planning and Development Coordinator, stated that 70% of the investment program of the MPSUID has started implementation.  The rest are included in the City’s pipeline for the succeeding years.
